How Much To Rent Shelter Island's "Bumblebee Manor"?

New, 5 comments

What/Where: 8 Bedroom, 10.5 bathrooms on Lari Lane
Square Feet: 16,000
Acreage: 3.25
The Skinny: Named after an ancient symbol of good fortune, joy and harmony, "Bumblebee Manor" is currently Shelter Island's priciest property on the rental market (it ranks #2 on the sales market). The 16,000 sq. ft. "Gatsbyesque" compound was completed in 2005 and offers amenities that would make anyone's summer season one for the ages. The main house comes with six bedrooms, seven fireplaces, a professional kitchen, a banquet-sized dining room, an elevator, an office, a media room, a fitness room and a wood-paneled library. The two-story St. Barth's-inspired guest house/pool house offers three of its own bedrooms, balcony and glass cupola. As for the 3.25 acre property, it boasts bluestone patios, an infinity-edge pool, "lush gardens, rolling lawns, over 300' of private beach frontage, and a deep water dock." As if the place isn't memorable enough already, there are also two life-size bronze giraffes (names Mac and Aroni) found on the grounds.

So...what do you think the owners are asking for the summer season?
