We noted back in December that builder Joe Farrell was again renting out his 31,000 sq. ft. "Sandcastle" for two weeks in August. This time around, though, he'd upped the price to $550K. Since the rental search is underway for many a Hamptons summerer, we thought taking a closer look at one of the East End's more (in)famous addresses was in order.
As you might expect, a house belonging to one of the area's more prominent builders offers some pretty over-the-top (some might say "tacky") amenities:
"Bordeaux walnut floors with radiant heat welcome you into a massive grand foyer with plaster ceilings. The first level finds elevator, double living room w/2 fireplaces, formal dining room w/fireplace, enormous professional chef's kitchen, butler's pantry, walk-in refrigerator, walnut library, and 10-seat theatre w/ interactive seats. Upstairs the 2800 sq. ft. master suite has an exotic master bath with honey onyx slabs and is joined by eight en-suite bedrooms, sitting room, wet bar, plus separate apartment w/2 bedrooms. The fabulous lower level has Air Lounge: Children's Entertainment Center, virtual golf, skateboard half pipe, rock climbing wall, media room with 5 plasma TV's, squash and racket ball court, 2-lane bowling alley, full bar and disco, complete spa facility, Jacuzzi, steam, sauna, massage area."The 11 acre property also offers an underground garage with hydraulic lift, a sunken tennis court with stone walls, and?what else??a heated gunite pool with electric cover and underwater stereo. Never one to rest on his laurels, Mr. Farrell went ahead and contructed a much-needed baseball field this year. Other than a 30 foot marble statue of himself, what do you think Joe Farrell will be adding next year? A go cart track? Petting zoo with endangered, exotic animals? Ferris wheel? Leave your best guesses in the comments.
