Unlike a different designer-owned home that joined our "That's Rather Hideous" club a few months ago, the interiors of this four-bedroom actually befit someone that does them for a living. Susan Steger of Susan Steger Interiors (and her husband, Bruce) bought this two acre property in 2003 for $435K, built the 3600 sq. ft. residence in 2005 and then put it on the market in September of 2011.
The house itself is full of touches you would expect from someone trained in the dark art of interior decorating: two-tone stained checkerboard stenciled oak flooring, painted paneling, a gourmet kitchen with white Denby marble counters and oversized limestone island, a great room with fireplace and built-in bookcases, and a first floor master suite that includes both a fireplace and sitting area.
The property seems just as thoughtfully planned and boasts "unspoiled, tranquil views to Genet Creek, wonderful garden and path areas", a heated gunite pool (whew!) and proximity to community tennis and protected nature trails.
When the residence first went up for sale the Stegers were looking for $2.7M, but they lowered the price $100K just yesterday. Think it'll be enough to find a buyer or will they need to do something more drastic to pique someone's interest?
