Check Out The Wings On "The Butterfly House" In Springs

New, 3 comments

Flipping through the listing photos it's not difficult to figure out where this mid-century modern got the nickname "The Butterfly House". It looks like it may take off at any moment.

Set on .58 acres on the corner of Maritime Way and Deep 6 Drive, the 1050 sq. ft. home offers three bedrooms (one was originally designed to be an artist studio and has a foldable wall that connects to the great room), exposed beams, walls of glass and room for a pool. Built in 1964 by "renowned architect Henry T. Howard" (although Google produces almost nothing) the house has been on the market for almost four years. Obviously, the owner?listed as Karl Avallone, a builder in East Hampton?isn't in any real hurry to sell. Since listing the place for $760K in June of 2008 there have been a few pricechops, but they only amount to $61K in total. The ask has been at $699K for close to two years now.
