The busy season may be over, but the Town of East Hampton is finally getting on board with the idea that the taxi situation is absolutely dreadful 'round these parts?price gouging is commonplace, as are complaints about unsafe drivers. At a recent meeting, council members acknowledged the issues and, according to 27 East, are "thinking about ways to tweak the current process" of registering drivers, cars and companies. Here's to hoping that a major overhaul takes place by next June. According the the article: "The number of taxi cabs on the roads of East Hampton Town more than doubled this summer compared to the same time last year." [Previously, 27 East]
