The last time we took a look at this 12,000 sq. ft. behemoth on Georgica Pond, we focused on the $4.5M pricechop it received. Now, a year and a half later, the ask is still $34.995M, but we wanted to turn our attention to the house itself.
Originally designed by the awesomely mustachioed Stanford White, the 100-year-old structure was "meticulously renovated" and enlarged over a three year period. The current owner actually rotated it "90 degrees so the historic triple-height studio room (which faced north) is now a 30 ft. high living room looking west over the pond." If its interiors look familiar to Curbed readers, that's because the builder responsible for the renovations is Jeffrey Collé...the man behind another over-the-top property we recently featured. And just like that Bridgehampton Estate, this one comes with some truly high-end touches:
"Every detail in the house was custom designed and all woodwork was hand-milled on site. The bathroom marble was site selected in Verona, Italy. The patina-matched tubs, counters, and tiles were carved from single blocks of stone by master Italian craftsmen."Adding to the desirability (and cost) of the place is its equally impressive location. It's set on an elevated two acres with 203' of frontage on Georgica Pond and is adjacent to 17-acre meadow preserve. Not too shabby. Any guesses on how much longer it'll take before a buyer is finally found? · Listing: 81 Briar Patch Road [Corcoran]
