In Water Mill, An Updated 1920s Summer Cottage For $23.9M

For many, the idea of a "cottage" evokes visions of a modest, cozy dwelling found outside the hustle and bustle of the city. While the East End is definitely removed from the breakneck pace of Manhattan, some of the cottages 'round these parts are anything but modest. Take for instance this 6,500 sq. ft. summertime residence in Water Mill.

Located roughly half a mile south of a property recently featured on Curbed Hamptons, this three-story seven-bedroom is set on four acres, offers 300' of waterfront on Mecox Bay and views to the Atlantic Ocean. There's also a 50' foot heated pool and, if you get sick of that, you can set sail from your own private dock. As you would expect, the interiors are just as nice as the exterior: brick fireplaces and wood floors throughout, exposed beam ceilings and bedrooms overlooking the water.

We wouldn't dare call a $23.5M residence modest, but we have no qualms calling this nicely understated. Thoughts?
