This Five-Bedroom In Central Montauk Is Asking $875K

New, 8 comments

We really have no idea what to make of this 3000 sq. ft. modern (?) in the panorama section of central Montauk*. Its stats are nice?five bedrooms on three levels, marble floors, a chef's kitchen, wrap around decks, half an acre with room for a pool? and it looks to be in excellent shape, but to say that we're not exactly fond of either the exterior or the interiors would be an understatement.

However, our reservations may be unwarranted. The listing agent describes the home as "income producing"?meaning: it's been used as rental property. Most likely, it's a summer share house. So, there's really no need to get caught up in the facade or invest in high-end furnishings to satisfy temporary guests, especially the type looking for nothing more than a seasonal crash pad.

It first hit the market back in May with an ask of $950K, but after a recent pricechop, the owner's (described as "motivated") hoping for $875K. We think there's a good chance they'll get it. Thoughts?

*This is the first time we've heard of this area referred to as either the "panorama section" or "central Montauk". Brokerspeak or a gap in our knowledge of the 11954?
