Flyer Beware

New, 1 comment

We all live in perpetual fear of hitting a deer in the Hamptons. And, for the guy flying a Cessna 340 (a small, six-place aircraft), that fear was realized last Friday when he struck a deer during landing at the East Hampton Airport. There were no injuries (aside from the dead deer) and, surprisingly, this was only the fourth such run-in at the airport in the last seven years (although this incident caused the most damage). The airport was shut down for 3 hours while the whole mess was cleaned up and the Town is promising to look at its safety protocols to see if they should make any changes. [East Hampton Patch]
