MTK Festival Cancelled Because Not Enough People Cared

New, 6 comments

The MTK Festival has been cancelled. The two-day music festival was scheduled for the weekend of August 13th and 14th at the East Hampton Airport, but because of low ticket sales, the whole thing has just been called off. Here's the official statement from the organisers (since they're British):

“It is with heavy, heavy heart that we regret to inform you that the inaugural MTK: Music To Know Festival in East Hampton will not take place. Despite our unique vision and arranging a world-class line-up, ticket sales were not adequate to allow the event to continue. We wanted to let everyone know now before engaging more deeply. Along with our ticket holders, vendors, sponsors, business associates, colleagues and friends in the community, we too are filled with deep disappointment. We pledge to endure during this difficult time with the same integrity and professionalism displayed throughout the creation of this event."

Ticket holders are being told to check their website next week for refund details.

But, as a silver lining for those with nothing to do this weekend, the Escape 2 NY festival (currently in progress) is now accepting MTK Festival tickets for admission (just bring your tickets or proof of purchase).
