Not In My Backyard

Controlling beach access is a venerable Hamptons tradition (just ask the good people of Napeague), so it should come as no surprise that residents who live near an access point to Georgica Pond have now placed enormous boulders along the side of West End Road to prevent people from parking: "While the trail to the pond is owned by East Hampton Village, the road is private, and homeowners grew tired of people parking on the narrow street and blocking driveways." Since the big rocks are on private property, the Village says there isn't anything they can do about it, but they remind people that there are a lot of trails in the Hamptons "that you can’t just drive right up to and park adjacent to.” [27 East]
