Blame Gilt City The Next Time You're Denied A Heart Transplant

New, 4 comments

The Harboring Hearts Summer Fête event, to benefit heart patients and families in need, had to be hastily moved to a new location this past weekend after the Town of Southampton discovered tickets for the event were being sold on Gilt City's website. (Gilt City sells all sorts of "exclusive experiences" and is part of the Gilt Group of companies.) The original location for the $125-per-person event was at the Paige Estate, a private home in Sag Harbor, but because Gilt City has been under investigation by the Town of Southampton ever since they moved into a private home in Bridgehampton (for events of their own), it would now seem that anything that's even vaguely Gilt-related in the Hamptons is now under scrutiny. (The Town argues that private homes cannot be used for this type of business purpose.)

The Harboring Hearts event, featuring DJ Samantha Ronson, took the threat from the Town seriously and moved to the Capri Hotel in Southampton (and tickets were yanked from Gilt's website), but Gilt City held their ground at their private home in Bridgehampton this weekend; their events took place, as scheduled.

The Town of Southampton says the Code Enforcement division is actively working to close the Gilt City House "ASAP," but that this process will take time.
