The Concerned Citizens of Montauk are quite concerned about Montauk's longest residential dock getting even longer. Back in June, the request to extend the now 149-foot dock off the property of former New York Post publisher Peter Kalikow by an additional 15 feet was approved, but the Concerned Citizens say this approval lacked the required environmental impact study and are now suing. Kalikow's attorney says his client "needs a long dock because his boat skims the bottom of the shallow lake as it approaches shore, particularly in low tide" but the opposition doesn't think that's a good enough reason to "continue to permit the degradation of critical habitat." At least he's not operating a bar at the end of the thing, right? [EH Patch]
