This Is The Most Important Weekend Of The Summer

New, 2 comments

This Saturday is probably the biggest of the summer, at least when it comes to events. Here's what's going on:

WATERMILL CENTER'S ANNUAL BENEFIT GALA
We've been to hundreds of Hamptons events over the years and can say, unequivocally, that the Watermill Center's summer benefit gala is the best. Really. At the party, performance artists mingle with guests and the whole experience is pretty spectacular. Plus it doesn't hurt that they pull in a great crowd, have top notch cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and feature an impressive silent auction (this year featuring art by notables like Marina Abramovi?, Cindy Sherman, Yoko Ono, and, of course, Robert Wilson). The whole thing goes to support their artist-in-residency program, so that's nice, too. This year's theme is "Voluptuous Panic" and the dress code is "Fearless." We have no idea what we're going to wear.

SUPER SATURDAY
People go crazy for this this annual "designer garage sale" and for good reason: You can score some pretty good deals (especially at the end of the day, since none of the designers want to take anything back with them). This year, participants include Donna Karan (of course), Jimmy Choo, Ralph Lauren, and more than 200 others. It all goes to support ovarian cancer research.

ART FOR LIFE
Love Jennifer Hudson? See her perform live at this year's bash, which takes place at Russel Simmons' house in East Hampton and benefits his Rush Philanthropic Foundation. Mary J. Blige and Edward Norton are also expected to attend. The theme this year is "The Zen of Giving" with a "sun-kissed saffron" color scheme (but those who can't pull off yellow should probably go across the color wheel to blue instead).

Also this weekend...
