We've been asking readers to weigh in on a very important question: Where does the Hamptons begin? One commenter feels that anything contained within the town of Southampton and East Hampton is automatically part of "The Hamptons," which would mean places like Remsenburg and Speonk would be included. But today, another reader says, "topography matters more than political lines...part of what defined 'the Hamptons' is the process of getting there from the city. And when that term was created, before the LIRR expanded all the way out, the canal was a major transportation barrier - and therefore also a major social and cultural barrier." Agree? Disagree?
