When we posted photos of billionare hedge-funder David Tepper's razed home, Curbed readers had many things to say. Some thought he should "give all that money to charity" and that this is "what's wrong with this country." Others were ready to defend, asking, "So he's supposed to work hard and not enjoy the fruits of his labor?!?!?!" But a final commentator breaks it down this way: "Guys, it was a huge lot with a relatively small house. The value of the property is the land, not the house. By tearing down the house he gets: A bigger house, Better Views, A property value that will well exceed the 43.5 million ($60 million) (the new house will only cost him 8 million or so to build)."
