As part of Curbed Outdoors Week 2011, we're looking for the best places to take your dog in the Hamptons. Nominate your dog and favorite spot for eternal glory by writing us a short description of what makes it so great and why your dog loves it. Nominations to hamptons@curbed.com.
Meet Walter, an 8-month old Wheaten Terrier. In the off-season, he loves a good run on Wainscott Beach. But in the warm summer months, he heads to Napeague Harbor. His dad, Ward, says:
I park at the entrance of the Walking Dunes Park and let [Walter] run all the way up to Napeague Bay. He's still getting his sea legs, so it's the perfect place to play fetch in the shallow, calm waters of the harbor. Careful not to let him run too far inland (ticks) but on a sunny day, it's not crowded and you can always stop and grab a lobster roll or fried clams if you're heading back west. By the time we have to come back to the city, he's pooped and snoring in the back seat. It makes it all worthwhile. Think your dog is more adorable? Email hamptons@curbed.com.
