Woman Attempts To Meet Men By Renting $50 Million House...Again

New, 32 comments

Pity Cheryl Mercuris, a divorced woman of a certain age from Tampa who made news last summer when she paid $500,000 to rent a house for two weeks in the Hamptons in order to meet men. Not surprisingly, she was unsuccessful with her mission and left the East End empty handed.

But, lending further evidence that the true definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result, Mercuris has just rented the same house for the entire month of July this year in the hopes she'll have better luck meeting a soul mate.

Her Bridgehampton rental, called the Sandcastle, sits on 11.5 acres and features nearly 31,000-sq-ft of living space, including 12 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, a bowling alley, rock-climbing wall, and a "professional spa."

Last year, Mercuris admited that the rental was "hard to justify, even in [her] own head." We agree!
