New, 4 comments

Hamptons rentals come in all shapes and sizes. To demystify the market, behold the 2011 Summer Rental Roundup! We're making stops from Southampton to Montauk, giving you seven rentals per destination as we crawl down 27. Welcome to East Hampton!

1. Georgica Association, Wainscott; Sotheby's
The Price:$250K, July
The Skinny: Renting in the Georgica Association has it perks, like that pesky security guard who keeps intruders like us out. But that really pales in comparison to this secluded rental's four-acre plot of land, which backs right up to the Atlantic. Moving inside, this 6BD, 6.5BA home's decor is a little rustic, which has come to make it one of the most photographed homes in the Hamptons. And another fun fact: Scarlett Johansson has filmed a movie here!

2. Sherrill Road, East Hampton; BHS
The Price: $45K, MD-LD
The Skinny: A top-notch cottage in a safe village location. You could totally walk to Babette's from here! With only two bedrooms, the swanky cottage will help keep you and your guests spaced out with an impeccably landscaped backyard and a lofty pool house. An upgraded white kitchen and bathroom, quality furniture, and a neat little outdoor shower round of this surefire beach house.

3. Koala Lane, East Hampton NW; Prudential
The Price: $120K, MD-LD
The Skinny: Put your dollars to work! Trade the obvious SOH location for this community in East Hampton NW, and reap the benefits; namely, this stately chateau-style home, which checks in at 4,000-square-feet, with 4BD and 5.5BA. The property comes with a 40-ft gunite pool, formal landscaping, and refined decor throughout. Perhaps not the first thing to come to mind when you think of the East End, but why argue with living on a grand scale?

4. Further Lane, East Hampton; Prudential
The Price: $250K, MD-LD
The Skinny: So maybe Ramona's Southampton abode isn't your style? You're in luck: there's another way to rent like a Real Housewife this summer, assuming you'd like to live it up like Ms. Kelly Bensimon. The 5BD, 5.5BA shingle-style home sits on an unbeatable lane in one of the most desirable sections of East Hampton. And the reality star's zany taste makes for some really exciting-looking spaces.

5. Driftwood Lane, East Hampton; Corcoran
The Price: $45K, MD-LD
The Skinny: Head over to the Sound-end of East Hampton and you'll come across this simple cottage near Gardiner's Bay. Inside, the 3BD, 2BA home offers dramatic cathedral ceilings and lots of crisp wood beaming. Outside is a private backyard enhanced by a free-form pool. Town might be a bit farther away than you'd like, but when August hits, this might be a good thing.

6. Hwy Behind the Pond, East Hampton; Saunders
The Price: August-LD, $195K
The Skinny: Hands down one of the most magical locations in East Hampton. You might not be a member of the Maidstone, but that doesn't mean you can't appreciate its beauty! This simple 3,500-square-foot cape-style home has been totally renovated, which left it with impeccable decor and great entertaining space, inside and out. An additional cottage, which is outfitted as a gym, rounds off this mini-estate.

7. Springs Fireplace, East Hampton; Saunders
The Price: $100K, July-August
The Skinny: How to ensure you're getting the best design has to offer? Simple! Just make sure your rental has been published in Architectural Digest, just like this 4BD, 5BA contemporary home. At this 4,000-square-foot pad, the decor speaks for itself. So if you're looking for a real show-stopper, then look no further
