The 2011 SUMMER RENTAL ROUNDUP: Sag, Sagg & Bridge

Hamptons rentals come in all shapes and sizes. To demystify the market, behold the 2011 Summer Rental Roundup! We're making stops from Southampton to Montauk, giving you seven rentals per destination as we crawl down 27. Up second: Sag Harbor, Sagaponack, and Bridgehampton!

1. Hedges Lane, Sagaponack; Saunders
The Price: $295K, MD-LD
The Skinny: Would you believe homeowners would ever let renters into a pad with this much white furniture? Well, give them $295,000, and the starkness can be yours! The 6BD, 6.5BA home, which sits on a desirable Sagg lane and has been published before, offers some of the sleekest decor around. And in this case, that includes a giant bowl filled with twigs. We don't fully get it, but we do know it looks nice.

2. Sagg Road, Sag Harbor; Sotheby's
The Price: $40K, August-LD
The Skinny: Located near a bunch of like-minded historic homes is this circa 1790s icon. The updated colonial offers a unique spin to traditional design, finding a way to make the antique finishes look modern. The 4BD, 3BD listing spans over 5,500 square feet, which leaves just enough room for a shaded gunite pool and some attractive stone walls.

3. Surfside Drive, Bridgehampton; Saunders
The Price: $340K, MD-LD
The Skinny: If you're going to shell out for an oceanfront rental, then it's fair to demand all the bells and whistles. And this modest home delivers in the form of its very own wind mill! Novelty items aside, the 1.46-acre plot of land is also dotted with a free-form pool and an oceanfront gazebo. Oh, and Bill Clinton definitely approves this message—he's allegedly rented it before.

4. Sag Harbor Village; Town & Country
The Price: $9K, August-LD
The Skinny: Here's a unique opportunity to get in Sag Harbor for the tale-end of the summer for under $10,000. Sure, the smaller price tag means smaller square footage (the home only has 2BD and 900 square feet), but the recent renovation more than makes up for it. Highlights include fresh landscaping, a bright, white kitchen with new appliances, and streamline furniture. There's no pool here, but word is the cottage is just a moment from Haven's Beach.

5. Williams Way, Bridgehampton; Corcoran
The Price: $50K, August-LD
The Skinny: A chic little home in an extremely convenient Bridgehampton South location. You'll be very close to town! This recently-renovated 4BD, 4BA house has the retro look down pat. And all of the home's windows will really come in handy when sneaking a peak of the gunite pool, 2BA pool house, and preservation land beyond.

6. Butter Lane, Bridgehampton; Corcoran
The Price: $50K, July-LD
The Skinny: Sometimes, you need to just live in a barn to get full Hamptons effect. And for that, there's this 3BD, 2.5BA barn-style home, which literally has farm views everywhere you look. Simple furnishings, a clean gunite pool, a convenient Bridge North location, and lots of lofty ceilings more or less guarantee a relaxing summer in the Hamptons.

7. Sandune Court, Sagaponack; Prudential
The Price: $70K, MD-LD
The Skinny: What?! Oceanfront in Sagaponack for under $500K? Yes, it's possible, assuming you're willing to compromise. The cottage in question checks in at only 700 square feet, but the views over the Atlantic go on forever. Back inside, the living spaces are clean, efficient, and pretty much all you'll need after rolling off the beach.
