It's been a while since the last Montauk institution hit the market. Is something wrong? Nope, because the iconic Shagwong Restaurant has just become available for $6.5 million. The restaurant and tavern was originally built in 1927, and has been operating close to its present form since 1969. (The Carl Fisher building has only had four owners.) The eatery has 112 seats spread across a dining room and tavern, which have been filled by the likes of "Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Hutton ... along with a few of the Beatles and most of the Rolling Stones." Not a bad roster. But would you expect any less of "one of the best places for a beer, a burger, a lobster or a glass of Merlot." Either way, let the outcry begin!
