$38M Oceanfront Home Looking to Quadruple '04 Selling Price

New, 2 comments

We just have to blurt out and say it: This $38 million oceanfront home comes with "a domed metal-plated observatory," retractable roof included! But we're getting ahead of ourselves. According to the Observer, the freshly-listed Further Lane property's history really starts back in 1992, when an investor by the name Richard Pollak purchased it from "ABC news titan Roone Arledge," and then asked starchitect Joe D'Urso to build the modern home shown above, observatory and all. Thereafter, Pollak listed the home for sale, first for $14 million and then for $10 million. It took some time, but the 3.5-acre property eventually sold for $9.850 million in 2004. Grab your calculators! That means the present $38 million asking price for this home is nearly four times greater. Hot damn!

In addition to a long list of notable owners, which also includes "late Broadway siren Libby Holman," the property boasts an equally lengthy list of amenities. Sure, there's the stargazing-friendly observatory, but there's also a striking infinity-edge pool, a tennis court, koi pond, and an extremely private boardwalk to the ocean. And moving back inside, the clean lines and simple decor definitely lends itself to "easy Hamptons living," assuming you've got $40 mill sitting around.
