Has East Hampton's Crystal Room Found A Buyer?

New, 10 comments

When we got an Email earlier this week saying that "The old Crystal Room on Montauk Highway between East Hampton and Amagansett has been sold," we thought it was a rumor worth following up on. And after some Emails, phone calls and texts, it looks to be true. It would seem that Michael Gluckman has picked up the former home of Cricket Catering. Our source tells us that the 1.6 acre parcel was purchased for a not-unreasonable sum of $1.15M?the Turtle Crossing space was also an option, but they were "asking 2mil for less than half."

Curbed readers will be familiar with Mr. Gluckman as he's been a mainstay on the East Hampton restaurant scene for quite some time. He's been an owner/operator of The Eldridge (in NYC), Bamboo, The Lodge, The Boathouse and The Beach House (which he still currently operates). In light of recent rumors, the purchase makes sense. Mr. Gluckman has concurrently operated two eateries in the area for a few years now. We reached out to him yesterday and are awaiting confirmation, but we're about 99% certain this is a done deal. We'll be sure to update when more information becomes available.
