Bulkhead, Interrupted

A mere two weeks after a work session seemed to secure the Sag Harbor Village Committee's support for the installation of a bulkhead on West Water Street, that same board ended up voting against the measure this week. Committee member Jeff Peters seized on the plan's ambiguous use of language concerning the bulkhead's success: "There are key words there: 'may be'. There has to be another way.” The board now wants to look at other options for slowing the erosion that's been plaguing the street for the last decade. We expect a decision to be reached sometime in the next decade. [Sag Harbor Express]
