Think Again

The Southampton Village Review's got a great little write-up on the difficulties that the First Presbyterian Church of Southampton is facing with proposed changes to the its steeple. After a few meetings with the village board to discuss turning the "Town Clock" into a revenue-generating cell tower, the church will mostly likely need to rethink its plans. Representatives of the cellular company want to dismantle the 168-year-old structure and replace it with a styrofoam and plexiglass facsimile. Laws say that a historic building's original features can only replaced if they cannot be salvaged? definitely not the case here. [Southampton Village Review]
