The Hamptons' first completely recycled, "shipping container" home went up in Amagansett recently. “People left their home in East Hampton to go to work in Montauk and came home to see that a house had been built,” said broker Christopher Stewart, referring to how quickly the 2000 sq. ft. four-bedroom was erected. While the minuscule construction time is a definite bonus, developer Andrew Anderson has another reason for employing recycled materials: "Our goal is to be eco-friendly and to maintain a small carbon footprint." If all goes well (meaning: he sells this one), he plans to build an additional half dozen of the steel and glass houses in the area. [NY Post]
