On Tuesday, all five members of Southampton's Town Board voted to enter into a license agreement with the Mecox Sailing Association. "I’m very pleased with the actions of the board," said Jeff Mansfield, the Bridgehampton resident behind the effort to turn the old Mecox Yacht Club into a not-for-profit sailing association. "At the same time it’s a bit bittersweet," he added. Curbed readers will recall the association's plans to open a sailing school at the end of Bay Lane in Water Mill have been derailed by a lawsuit filed by residents calling themselves the Mecox Bay Civic Association. Now that the town has weighed in, the non-profit must wait for the lawsuit's outcome before clearing of the small patch of land on the bay can begin. [27 East]
