Fightin' Words

Plans for a North Sea day camp are expected to come under fire during Thursday's meeting of the Southampton Zoning Board. About 75 members of the Little Fresh Pond Association and North Sea Neighbors?area groups staunchly opposed to the plan?will be in attendance to argue against the application. Opponents believe the camp would lead to "earsplitting noise", increased neighborhood traffic and pollution to the nearby Fresh Pond. While there hasn't been a day camp on the land for almost 40 years, the proposed camp's owner is arguing that the property has a pre-existing nonconforming use and is seeking permission to build facilities like a staff quarters. We're fine with any outcome as long as screaming children are kept far, far away. [Patch]
