Cleanup crews from Exxonmobile are set to begin excavation of Sag Harbor's Bay Street in the coming weeks. After heavy rains raised water table levels in 2010, oily water was spotted bubbling up from where a plume had previously contaminated the area adjacent a fuel depot in the 80s. Surveys taken following last year's discovery showed that this contamination extended farther than originally thought. The cleanup process this time around is expected to take about six weeks.
