Early Morning Blaze

While we're on the subject...a fire completely destroyed a cottage on Meeting House Lane in Southampton late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. Ten engines responded to the call and arrived to see "a fully engulfed structure fire," according to the captain of the Southampton Fire Department, Chris Brenner. The cause of the blaze will now be subject to an investigation. While there's no word on whether or not the home's numbers were clearly visible, Mr. Brenner mentioned that an "orange glow” could be seen from about two blocks away. Not a great start to fire prevention week. [27 East]
