At the foot of Bay Lane in Water Mill sits a tract of town-owned land once occupied by the old Mecox Yacht Club. Despite its uppity name, the club, which has been out of commission for 20 years, was actually pretty family-oriented. And now a committee is trying to use that angle to get the club house restored and the cheery sailing camp active again. Problem is Bay Lane isn't what it used to be, and new residents are worried about crowding. One committee member allegedly said "don’t tell anyone on Bay Lane, because they won’t want to do it." But that claim was denied, probably because it'd be impossible to keep a yacht club secret for long. [EH Star]
