Developer David Reiner is still planning to overhaul the former Barcelona Inn on Route 114 and turn it into a nice little inn with 12 separate cottages and a couple of auxiliary buildings. Problem is the Town Board isn't so keen to approve the project, and now a local conservation group is fighting the effort too. Known as the East Hampton Conservators, the group claims the current plan calls for the removal of "the only White Pine Forest on Long Island." Not very environmentally sensitive! Except for the fact that Reiner's attorney claims the land isn't actually a white pine forest. [Sag Harbor Online]
