Just months after the beloved Fairway Restaurant at Poxabogue announced its demise comes a similar fate for its replacement, the Love Lane Cafe. Love Lane, which operates an outpost on the North Fork, was set to open up earlier this summer. Unfortunately, a newly-discovered mold problem slowed down the opening, delaying it until mid-July, and again through August. According to an older article in the East Hampton Press, owner Michael Avella was "preparing for the possibility of having to completely close the building during the height of the summer season while extensive renovation work is done." In the end, looks like the lost business and the dingy space were just too much. Fortunately, Love Lane won't end its affair with the South Fork just yet. Avella says he'll "begin seeking other opportunities to introduce the Love Lane brand of hospitality to the" South Fork soon. And the romance continues.
