With August drawing closer, now's as good a time as any to check in on our favorite East End eateries and chefs. Shall we?
Surf Lodge—Eater NY recently caught up with Sam Talbot, the head chef over at Surf Lodge, and the Top Chef has lots to report. First off, when asked about the summer thus far, Talbot explains: "This is our most successful season yet, we've trumped the other two, by a landslide. We've had a really good response as far as food, but the overall vibe is really coming through." Talbot also tacks on a discussion about his new "baby," a brand new food truck, which serves up Hawaiian plate lunches not found on the regular menu. [Eater NY]
Dockers Waterside—Via reporting from Guest of a Guest comes word that Dockers in East Quogue "is losing what once was a good reputation." So what's gone awry at the lively eatery? Management spends a little too much time posting about its celebrity clientèle—and members of "The Hamptons" Facebook page would like to see them stop violating the "sacred rule" of privacy. Tsk tsk! Bobby Flay—After accidentally getting a Brown Harris Steven's agent fired, the king of the grill is almost ready to move into his new house in the Stony Hill area of Amagansett. So is Flay excited? Yup! Especially since the wild Hamptons scene has "skipped from East Hampton straight to Montauk, leaving Amagansett relatively untouched." Jokes Flay: "We kind of lucked out that way." [HuffPo]
