With the opening date of the 2010 Designer showhouse fast-approaching—viewings begin July 25—comes word that the decked-out Sag Harbor property will eventually hit the market for $5.25 million. Even with its recession-friendly pricing, the 4.7-acre spread still finds a way to offer all of the perks, which include 10,800 square feet of living space, seven bedrooms, and eight and a half bathrooms. But the decorator's dream doesn't stop there: Outside, the future purchaser will enjoy "a 2,300-square-foot wraparound porch, a 50-foot pool with hot tub and sun bed" and "a built-in firepit with a waterfall." Not too shabby!
In terms of square footage, this year's property is more than 2,000 square feet larger than the 2009 showhouse, which topped out at 8,600 square feet. So that's one point for the 2010 house. But last year's house was built by brand-name builder Joe Farrell, and sat on the always-exclusive David's Lane in Water Mill. Further, last year's house also offered an impressive guest house, which is noticeably absent from this year's house. All in all, that the 2010 house is priced more than $3 million less than the 2009 house more than makes up for any shortcomings.
