In 1972, late architect Franklin D. Israel completed his first privately commissioned project in the dunes of Amagansett. The result: What some publications call "one of the finest examples of contemporary beach house architecture." The kick: Israel later went on to design the sets for the first Star Trek movie. (Perhaps your new house served as its inspiration?) Either way, the property's $1.390 million price tag doesn't seem at all too bad—even if the house is in need of renovation. So if you feel up to the challenge ("This published home requires an owner who appreciates its pedigree"), consider auditioning at the property's next open house.
