The new Hamptons Table Tennis Club is definitely not your parents' country club. Here, tennis whites yield to a world-class table tennis facility, pros offer private lessons, and robotic ball feeders unleash 20 MPH practice shots. At the club, hourly table fees start at $20 and yearly memberships at $250. And don't worry about stuffy board members pocketing those fees: all earnings go towards keeping this non-profit afloat.
Sow how exactly did a not-for-profit East End tennis club get off and running? We have no clue! But it all started when two strangers decided that the East End needed a bigger table tennis following. And things really took off when they found a landlord willing to exchange discounted rents for some "bustling activity." The duo topped the venture off with local artwork and a club-like vibe. We assume that the old guard at Shinnecock Hills will not be pleased.
