They fought the good fight, but a thrift shop and a bunch of khaki-clad kids were no match for the Staples office supply empire, which will be landing this summer at Bridgehampton Commons, according to the Sag Harbor Express. By giving their blessing, the Southampton Town Planning Board put the final nail in the coffin for the remaining stores in Staples' path to Commons domination. Expect GapKids and Retreat Boutique to relocate in April, when Staples takes over and starts remaking the combined spaces in shades of red. One possibility for GapKids is the former FYE (For Your Entertainment) space, although the size might not fit. As for the remaining vacancies at the Commons, look for a possible "fitness operation" in the near future across from T.J. Maxx.
