Coming soon to an empty East Hampton storefront: Art! With retail vacancies climbing close to 30 in the village, the increasingly popular chain of "For Rent" stores is taking over and seriously bumming everyone out, according to 27east. To keep the town from turning ghost, East Hampton is working with Guild Hall to install works from local artists in vacant windows. At a cost of roughly $5,000, the project is a win-win for both struggling artists, who'll get some much-needed exposure, and the town, which stays pretty until things turn around.
