The End of The End

Ever since it hit the market for $20 million, locals and fans alike have poured their hearts out over the oldie but goodie that is the East Deck motel. And now it's the WSJ. Magazine's turn to celebrate the five-acre Ditch Plains spread. In a recent piece, the magazine isolates the key to motel's "cult fan base": "The sole owners of 50-plus years have succeeded in keeping the motel exactly as it's always been." Maybe that's why we're willing to agree with statements like "If you're not warmed by the Kodachrome charm of East Deck's wooden front deck you're just not sentimental." [WSJ. Mag]
