The Curbed Cup, our annual award to the Hamptons neighborhood of the year, is kicking off with 8 'hoods vying for the prestigious fake trophy. This week we'll have one matchup per day, and all the results and the full tourney bracket will be reviewed on Friday. Voting for each pairing ends in the wee hours the next morning. Let the eliminations commence!

Nabes like East Hampton need no introduction, so we won't give it one. As anticipated, a lot happened here since last year: some of the best nightlife, newest restaurants, and most unexpected shopping (that means you, Restoration Hardware). But who can focus on the traffic to get to all these places with real estate like this out your window. And with property values this high, it's no wonder neighbors will fight to the end to protect it!
Southampton had an interesting 2010. For the first time in 60 years, Saks is no longer at its doorstep. But a steady flow of pop-ups and year-round newcomers have already washed ashore. And now that the Olde Towne development is back in action (and the rental drama is as great as ever!), the world watches as Southampton leads the high-end market.
