Shotty This Windmill

Since the 1800s, the "stately" windmill shown right has enjoyed breezes on a Shinnecock site that eventually became the Stony Brook Southampton campus. Thing is, the windmill originally came from the corner of Windmill Lane (duh) and Hill Street in the Village of Southampton. Board officials are totally fine with letting the monument stay put, but if the campus ever closes—there have been rumors—they'd like to see the windmill go right back where it came from. And they're serious! The mayor's drafting a letter to Stony Brook as we speak. [27 East]
