Designer showhouses don't always have the most luck selling. Just look at this one! But the 2010 Designer Showhouse has defied expectations and already found a contract, notes broker/blogger Patrick McLaughlin. The nearly five acre spread offered just shy of 11,000 square feet of living space, attractive landscaping, and over-the-top finishes, like that bonkers home theater. But it doesn't offer a tony south of the highway address or water, which left McLaughlin thinking the home's $5.5 million asking price "was an aggressive take." Of course, there's no guarantee that the current buyer is willing to pay anything near the asking price, so let's just hold off on declaring this property a winner.
