The proposal to restore the "old, worn" Mecox Yacht Club, which sits at the foot of Bay Lane on town-owned land, is sailing along as expected. Battle lines are now drawn, with the Mecox Sailing Association on one side and the Mecox Bay Alliance on the other. The sailing association wants to transform the property into a "not-for-profit yacht club that will offer sailing classes for children and modest boat storage facilities." But the Bay Alliance is hesitant, pointing to "increased traffic" and a fear "that the yacht club would foster a climate of exclusivity." (A house next to the proposed yacht club is listed for $18.75 million, so take that fear with a grain of salt.) Both parties just aired out these concerns to an audience of 60+ people, and the issue will be re-hatched in January. So how will this saga end? Depends where the wind blows!
