CourtHampton: Town and Baron Agree on Further Lane Walls

Billionaire investor Ron Baron has reached an agreement with the Town of East Hampton over illegal walls built on his oceanfront Further Lane property. The story captured headlines last winter when the Town brought Baron to court after aerial shots of the 40 acre land suggested 'sensitive' dunes had been destroyed by the process. In late spring, both sides agreed that some of the walls could remain if portions of the dunes were reconstructed and 'revegetated', and the deal is now complete. Baron has also petitioned to divide the land into six lots in hopes to create separate guest home parcels, which explains the original intent of the subdividing walls. With all sides reasonably pleased, Baron must now apply for a smattering of permits to keep himself out of East Hampton courts in the future.
