Afternoon Delight: Amagansett's Sun-Conscious Renovation

This white-on-white contemporary in the Amagansett Dunes is a recently renovated beach house by Bates Masi + Architects. The basics: The original structure was just too sunny for the owners, so the Sag Harbor firm worked on creating a screen that wouldn't take away the view, but would off relief from the burning rays. The result is a bit reminiscent of outdoor vertical blinds, but such is art. Elsewhere in the remodel, the 'chopped up' home was streamlined and modernized to feel more luxurious, despite its small floorplan. N.B. The second gallery image is the requisite "Before" shot.
