Go Big or Go Home

When your 16,000 square foot home burns down, the replacement really ought to be worth it. So goes the mantra of Bob Roberts (founder of the Lucille Roberts gyms) who recently completed a new Southampton mansion following a fire that destroyed his home five years ago. The new abode: a subtle 28,000 square foot 'Italian Mediterranean villa with Italian tile tumbled marble floors, Venetian plaster walls and elegant European appointments'. Projects slated to be finished next summer include an 8,000 square foot guest house and a 90 foot pool. The gym business is severely underestimated. [Real LI]
