House Beautiful's Kitchen of the Month for August is a blue number out of Bridgehampton. In an interview with architect Kathryn Fee and kitchen owner Lisa McCarthy, the magazine learns that the idea of a typical white kitchen was just not an option. McCarthy, an amateur chef, decided that painted solid wood would be the key to hiding flying grease from the stovetop, and would add a bit of whimsy to an ordinarily standard room. Other considerations: The rather impressive lobster pot McCarthy often uses, so often that the pot accompanied the architect on sink-buying trips.
