As plans to expand the East Hampton library have been stalled for 6 years, the library's director is now speaking out, claiming zoning officials 'are fearful [the expansion] will attract a less affluent clientele'. The proposal for a '3,500-square-foot reading room that would contain 10,000 new volumes for children' has been held up over environmental concerns according to the zoning board, but Director Dennis Fabiszak and local children are accusing bureaucrats of scheming to keep kids from poorer surrounding communities out, 'denying' them the right to read.
