It Happened One Weekend: A Grand Prix and a Garden Party

1) The rainy skies cleared for Olympian McLain Ward to make history on Sunday, winning his fourth Grand Prix at the Hampton Classic. A jump-off broke the tie between Ward and Judy Garofalo Torres, who had the only two clean rounds in the entire class. Ward was atop Sapphire, a two-time Olympic gold-medal winning horse. [HC]

2) Weather-induced shopping sprees sent crowds to town on Friday and Saturday, with many shoppers taking advantage of some serious end of summer sales. Sample sales popped up in East Hampton and Southampton as well, with Temperley moving out merch at 80% off and Alice + Olivia hosting UES shoes for a day of shopping and champagne-ing on Saturday. 3) Garden party season is winding down, so Guild Hall celebrated flora and fauna once more with the sixth annual Garden as Art tour. Friday night saw a cocktail party in honor of the seven local artists who opened up their backyards in an effort to show 'the relationship between artists of the East End and their gardens'. Of course, queen of the garden Martha Stewart, was an honorary chair. [Hamptons Online]
